Yes, Aviacode employs over 700 expert AAPC or AHIMA certified facility, pro-fee, and HCC medical coders. The inpatient coding and outpatient coding certifications include AAPC’s CPC, CPC-P, COC, CIC, CRC, CPMA, COBGC; AHIMA’s RHIT, RHIA, CCS, CCS-P; and Compliance certifications include CHC and CHPC.

Aviacode hires only AAPC or AHIMA certified coders that meet the experience level required by our customers when it comes to professional coding. Coders are also required to pass a rigorous written competency assessment, interviews, background checks, and take part in security/HIPAA compliance training. In addition, coders may need to complete a specialty-specific competency assessment and pass a specialty-specific exam.

We have both types of coders available depending on the requirements of our clients. You will receive domestic account management regardless of where the coders are located.

Coder performance is measured with 100% pre-bill quality review, and is performed on 100% of the work until a coder achieves a minimum expected 95% coder accuracy score. Subsequently, we conduct regular quality reviews to verify that quality is maintained on an ongoing basis. The quality assurance program includes feedback to coders when the score is less than 100%.

Aviacode uses only AHIMA and AAPC credentialed coders for all clients. Our inpatient and outpatient coder certifications include AAPC’s CPC, CPC-P, COC, CIC, CRC, CPMA, COBGC; AHIMA’s RHIT, RHIA, CCS, CCS-P; and Compliance certifications include CHC and CHPC. All coder certifications are verified upon hire, and are constantly reviewed by Human Resources to ensure that certifications remain current.

Aviacode uses mostly AAPC certified CPMA auditors for professional fee audits. Similar to coders, all certifications are verified upon hire, and are constantly reviewed by Human Resources to ensure that certifications remain current.

Aviacode has a comprehensive HIPAA privacy and security policy that includes procedures for mitigating risk from both technical and human factors. The plan covers everything from individual computing devices that our coders use, and ultimately reaches every aspect of the technology stack from networking to servers within our high availability environment. Individual systems are also constantly audited for antivirus and malware detection software as well as the latest security patches from Microsoft.

Aviacode works hand in hand with our providers to ensure a smooth transition with a mutually agreeable rollout process based on volume, productivity, access to systems, and scope of each service line. Aviacode will then present a documented implementation plan upon completion that includes a kick-off meeting.

Our onshore coding teams have flexible work schedules. They work during standard business hours, as well as evenings and weekends. Our offshore coding teams work during standard business hours from Monday to Friday, as well as additional hours on Saturdays.

Aviacode has experience working with EMR systems that include: Allscripts, athenahealth, CareCloud, Cerner, Dr. Chrono, eClinicalWorks, Epic, GE Centricity, Greenway, McKesson, NextGen, Practice Fusion, T-System, and many more.

Aviacode has worked with providers at critical access hospitals, emergency medicine (hospital-based, freestanding, and urgent care centers), ambulatory surgery centers (ASC), and ancillary services (radiology, pathology, and laboratory), among others. In all, Aviacode has expertise in coding in over 60 medical specialties.

Yes. We can combine the code assignment (ICD-10-CM and CPT®) for facility services and professional fee services into one workflow. Global code assignments include codes for reporting facility resources, supplies used in rendering care to the patient and the provider’s time, as well as clinical expertise for medical services, and procedures that are carried out to evaluate and/or treat the patient.

All of our Aviacode employees, including offshore coders, are held to the same 95% minimum accuracy score. We conduct two levels of quality assurance as projects ramp up, and measure the accuracy of our coders with 100% pre-bill quality review, and is performed on 100% of the work until a coder achieves a minimum expected 95% coder accuracy score. Subsequently, we conduct quality reviews on a regular to verify that quality is maintained on an ongoing basis. The quality assurance program includes feedback to coders when the score is less than 100%.

Careers (US)

While different projects will vary depending on the client, most of our vacant positions provide flexible hours for our coders. They can accept work on projects that match their skill sets and interests, and are then provided project-specific training on the respective coding needs of our clients. Coders are then assigned to a work queue, and are able to complete the coding that is assigned to them when it is most convenient for them. Because our clients do expect the work to be done quickly, projects that are assigned to you must be completed within a set timeframe. This may vary depending on the client, but it is generally no more than two days. Coders must complete their work remotely on either the client’s system or if no client system, then on our Procoder® system (e.g. Can do medical coding at home).

It really depends. Some projects require full-time coders, and so if you are on one of these projects, then you will just focus on getting that particular job completed. Most of our facility coding projects operate on a full-time basis. Many of our pro-fee projects also allow for full-time or per diem coders, which means that you may have the option to work on more than one project based on your availability and the availability of work. We will also sometimes have some short-term needs for projects that allow coders to add additional work from time to time. This will allow them to drop their hours back down once the project is completed.

Our facility coders are paid at an hourly rate for the work completed. The rates of our pro-fee coders are based on the type of project and coding that is being completed through a combination of a base hourly rate plus a piece rate. This implies that the rate paid is dependent on the project and coder productivity levels for most of our pro-fee projects.

Almost. All coding work for US-based coders must be completed within the United States. In addition, since we are responsible for ensuring proper tax reporting, employees who work in another state for any period of time that is different from their home location must notify HR in advance. Since we are working on records that contain PHI, coders must also work in a location that ensures that HIPAA privacy standards are met, and that no one else can view their screens while working. You are also required to have access to a reliable high-speed Internet service.

When it comes to jobs for medical coders, we have three different employee statuses available that provide our employees with great flexibility. There are two benefit eligible statuses, and one non-benefit eligible status.

Our benefit eligible statuses are either regular full-time (40 hours per week) or regular part-time (30 hours per week). Employees in benefit eligible statuses are generally able to set their own schedule for most roles, but must work the minimum number of regularly scheduled hours each week to maintain benefit eligible status.

Our third status is that of per diem, which provides the greatest flexibility for our coders. Per diem positions may work anywhere from 1 to 40 hours per week, but can average no more than 29 hours per week over the course of the quarter. Per diem employees may have hours that flex according to their availability and the availability of work. We do ask that employees with a per diem status indicate a minimum number of hours that they are available to work, and this can be updated by the employee as needed with two weeks’ notice. By doing this, it enables our managers to plan workloads accordingly.

You will have the opportunity to interview with our Talent Acquisition Team to obtain all of the details regarding the position that you have applied and tested for before accepting an offer of employment. We will try to match your skillset with the coding positions available, and this can vary depending upon the account. We do have a variety of coding projects that we keep updated on our career site, and you may check these for further details.

Most of our coding positions require individuals to have more coding experience due to our client contracts. Every so often, there are positions that will be available where less direct experience is required when candidates have other relevant skills. Some examples of these include working as a medical transcriptionist or as a nurse.
